Half Distance Protection is a formal communication process between the Worker protecting the propelling movement and the Rail Traffic Driver or Rail Vehicle Placer Operator who has control of the Rail Traffic or Rail Vehicle Placer. The process incorporates a specific method of distance count down when authorising propelling movements by radio and is designed to prevent communication failure leading to an undesired event.
